Demand Logic has been appointed on further properties with Oval Real Estate following their initial instruction at One Colmore Square in Birmingham last year. The PropTech company will provide Building Analytics and performance optimisation across four more commercial properties in Birmingham, Reading, and London. All five properties are prominent office buildings and key assets for Oval Real Estate, totalling over 700k sqft. Since May 2022, Demand Logic has been providing valuable performance analytics and at One Colmore Square, identifying just over £180,000 of annual energy savings, and facilitating a data-driven maintenance approach.
Oval Real Estate has long been an advocate of embedding strong ESG initiatives into its real estate portfolio. A focus on long term future proofing and a clear ESG roadmap have led Oval to be much more innovative in their wider asset management strategy. One of the key ambitions across the portfolio is the implementation of a data-driven maintenance strategy and Oval are playing a crucial role in this by identifying the right key delivery partners to deliver this.
Clive Watson, Head of ESG & Experience, Oval Real Estate, said:
“Oval’s evolving ESG journey is integrated into daily actions. Engaging with Demand Logic’s smart technology across our portfolio allows us to enjoy efficiency and savings, which are passed on to tenants. It feels good to be pro-active add on the front foot; we’re able to monitor real time energy consumption and identify and pre-empt potential mechanical anomalies before more serious issues ensue, as well as steadily reducing consumption and carbon emissions asset by asset.”
Demand Logic’s vision is to use data analytics to improve energy efficiency in the built environment and create a new smart maintenance approach to the way Oval Real Estate and its property managers handle their buildings’ energy usage. Analysing building performance data means asset managers, like Oval Real, and their management teams can reduce energy usage and costs by up to 30%, and tenant complaints by up to 100%.
Mike Darby, CEO of Demand Logic, said:
“Actionable insight generated from technology has become vital in the fight against climate change and helping the built environment to take steps towards their net zero targets. Demand Logic will continue to support Oval Real Estate across these properties, with both ESG delivery and smarter maintenance. This comes at a significant period of growth for Demand Logic as we aim to level up our business, technology and team for the future - so watch this space!”
