Demand Logic welcomes Jon Wood as Senior IoT Developer

Following several new hires this autumn, Demand Logic has announced that Jon Wood has joined the team as Senior IoT Developer. As a key part of the data acquisition team, he will develop and manage devices that help to pull actionable insights from Building Management Systems, which provides recommendations for cost and energy savings in properties. He is currently developing the next generation of our Data Acquisition Device, helping Demand Logic support larger numbers of devices in the field as the business expands.

Jon has spent the past 10 years working as an engineer at early-stage tech start-ups. He most recently worked for Neos, helping to develop a platform and hardware to alert homeowners to issues with their properties, whilst also selling B2B partnerships with large insurance companies to reduce claims and increase customer engagement. When Neos was acquired by Sky UK in 2021, he worked as Head of Technology helping to develop future integration with the company and supporting customers with their home devices. Shortly after Neos’ acquisition, Jon wanted to find a role that would allow him to make a difference in mankind’s impact on the planet, taking an interest in joining Demand Logic after speaking with Chris Stokesmore, Senior Software and Infrastructure Engineer.

By 2030, Jon wants to see renewable energy generation being a requirement for all newly built properties to help reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. He also wants to see more of a shift toward electric vehicles, but acknowledges that we still have a long way to go. Finally, he hopes to see people move into smaller, more walkable communities to lower our carbon footprints and help restore a sense of human connection.

Speaking about his appointment, Jon said:

“Climate change is, in my opinion, the biggest risk to human survival in the foreseeable future. For this reason, Demand Logic seemed like the perfect fit as I have a passion for technology and believe that the team is making a genuine difference. Having spent a few years in management positions, I'm super excited to get back to hands-on engineering, rather than writing emails and sitting in meetings all day!”

Demand Logic CEO Mike Darby said:

“Jon’s appointment comes at a time of significant growth for Demand Logic as we look to transform our processes - and this all starts with the technology. By developing our PropTech solutions further, we will be able to provide more actionable insight for teams across the built environment and Jon is the ideal candidate to head up these changes.”

Earlier this year, Demand Logic announced the hires of Luke Christodoulou, Building Performance Analyst, Morten Bjornen-Jernside, Business Development Manager and Josie Newman, Junior Web Developer as part of the company’s growth following their investment in June 2022.
