Demand Logic teams up with GHS Limited to support their 2030 net zero goals
- GHS Limited has appointed Demand Logic as their preferred partner for Hanover Square.
- Demand Logic was chosen to help GHS deliver their 2030 net zero ambitions.
- Deployment started in early 2021, allowing teams to reduce carbon emissions and improve comfort for occupiers.
GHS Limited, a joint venture between Great Portland Estates (GPE) and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, has teamed up with Demand Logic at their 1.3-acre site, Hanover Square in central London. Demand Logic was chosen to help GHS achieve their net zero targets by 2030, assisting teams to reduce energy and improve environments for the occupiers with their market-leading building analytics technology. Totalling 220,000 sq ft of floor space, Hanover Square is a mixed use single development, with premium office space across three contemporary buildings, including new flagship retail and six residential apartments.
Demand Logic’s services were deployed in early 2021 to help minimise energy consumption and reduce carbon emissions. Since then the Data Acquisition Device has been streaming over 10,000 data sets, which are used to flag any inefficiencies in the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. This insight will enable Hanover Square’s property and maintenance teams to more effectively identify any issues and continuously improve systems’ performance, helping to maintain comfortable working conditions and energy-efficient HVAC operations.
In November 2013, the GHS Limited partnership saw Great Portland Estates and Hong Kong Monetary Authority join forces to own and develop the Hanover Square estate, with GPE transferring the properties into the partnership for £202 million. GPE is one of the UK’s leading property development and investor companies, owning a £2.5 billion portfolio of London real estate.
Mike Darby, CEO of Demand Logic, commented:
“Now the UK is preparing for lockdown restrictions to ease further, companies are looking at ways to achieve their net zero targets, for building owners this starts with their properties. We look forward to supporting GHS on their ambitious sustainability objectives, continuous optimisation of the buildings’ performance and collaborating with site teams to minimise carbon emissions to help keep the building operating as designed. Working on the project from an early stage, our services will ensure that Great Portland Estates delivers an optimum environment for its new occupiers.”
James Pellatt, Director of Workplace & Innovation, Great Portland Estates said:
“As part of our strategy of continuous innovation to enhance occupier’s workplace experience and our ambition to become a net zero business by 2030 understanding what is happening in our buildings in real time is of critical importance to us. Working with Demand Logic provides us with useful insight – especially during the fit out period to ensure that the design parameters can be maintained and in the long term energy performance is optimised.”
This acquisition comes after Demand Logic’s successful work with Hines and Avison Young at Brindleyplace. Despite the pandemic, the proptech company has continued to thrive, with their yearly review demonstrating that they had identified over 71,000 metric tons of carbon savings, the equivalent of 8,193 homes’ energy use for one year.
